Burstin'
Personally, the thing that I found most interesting was the use of the red tape to create the labyrinth. I have always been fascinated with Greek mythology, however I'm not too sure that I would enjoy this show. It sounds pretty darn graphic to me, and this is coming from a guy who ranks Evil Dead in his top musicals. Personally, I really don't think I would enjoy this show too much. After some research on Didaskalia, I came upon another Dionysos related performance, one which I found much more intriguing, found here: http://www.didaskalia.net/issues/8/24/

I really liked the red tape idea as well! It gave it a very unique aspect to the production.
ReplyDeleteYeah Beast I agree with all of that too. This play was not interesting to me either. Some guys running around in those costumes doesn't seem all that entertaining to me. But the red tape and the whole stage would be nice to see.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the red tape as well! I feel that it would allow the stage to appear bigger.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for creative representation, so the idea of the red tape stuck with me too! I wonder, and I'm just throwing this out there, if the colour/material of the tape comes from Greek culture? Not the idea of using it necessarily, but if the director did research and found out something symbolic that they wanted to incorporate in to the show? (I'm going to have to double check the article, see if they mention anything more at length!)
